A revolution in car headlights: 3072 smart LEDs for greater safety
Halogen or xenon, LED or laser - the choice of Best LED Headlights On The Market today is very wide. However, the industry still has room to grow. For example, now one of the European research associations has created new headlights, which should soon make night driving even safer.
In the fall and winter, the days are getting shorter, and more and more motorists would like better coverage of the road. According to statistics from the European Road Safety Council, at night the probability of being involved in a traffic accident is increased by 80%.
As a luminous alternative to cheap halogen bulbs, the auto industry today offers xenon, LED and even laser headlights. Now the Fraunhofer Institute of Integrated Circuits (Germany) and European manufacturers have joined forces to create a new type of automotive light, which should provide a much higher level of security.
3072 LED dots
The best LED headlight available today consists of 84 individual LEDs. New development of engineers, which will be discussed further, contains 3072 LED points, each of which is automatically controlled, turned on and off.
It will be possible to drive along the streets with a permanently switched on "distant" light, even if passing and oncoming cars are moving ahead of you. No one will be blinded, as the “smart” LED technology will turn off the LEDs in advance, which illuminate the areas where the rear-view mirror of the vehicle in front and the driver's head of the oncoming car are located.

The development of new lights contributed to the Federal Ministry of Education and Scientific Research of Germany. The project partners are the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (Germany), such chip and lamp manufacturers as Infineon, Osram and Hella, as well as the automaker Daimler. This was presented at the presentation of the novelty by the technical director of Osram, Stephan Kampmann, comparing the possible transition to new headlights with the transition from videotape to DVD.
Standard is still halogen
To date, the most common in cars is halogen light. With most automakers, it is installed on machines as standard serial equipment. Jörg Moisel, head of lighting technology at Mercedes, shared his opinion that “halogen headlights will be used for a long time, especially in price-sensitive segments” .
Xenon light is brighter, but more expensive. “The future belongs to the LED headlamps ,” says Burckhard Better, an expert on light from ADAC (Universal European Automobile Club - Europe’s largest public organization of motorists). “Xenon is the way out” , since the lighting equipment is very bulky, and the system itself is sensitive to vibrations.
LED lamps shine brighter and farther, consume less electricity and do not break from frequent driving through the bumps. In addition, headlights with a large number of LED elements can optimally illuminate the roadway, without blinding other road users.
For what in Russia do not like French cars
Why the auto industry of the Fifth Republic loses the battle for the domestic market
In Russia, strong stereotypes. French cars do not like polls (Logan, Sandero and Duster do not count - they are Romanian). They do not like, regardless of brand, year of manufacture and model. That is, they do not like for anything concrete, but simply because he is French. Smacks of racism.
Today I will try to tell, based on my knowledge about used cars and the experience of autoframing, what of what the truth about the French is telling and what is nothing more than gossip.
Buggy electrician
With the French electrics and in fact there are problems. I am not talking now about cars that are 5–7 years old, but about cars that have exceeded 10. Most of the problems are caused by the fact that electronic components are located where moisture is accumulated and are not protected by anything.
In Europe with a milder climate, Africa and China, this plays almost no role, while in Russia, with wetness and frost, cars, or rather their owners, suffer.
I do not want to say that the problem of electrical straight from all the French, without exception, but they are common. However, I also want to say that many non-French cars have problems with electrics. So, as for electricians, this is not really a myth, but the scale of the tragedy is clearly exaggerated.
Entle suspension
On the suspensions of the French, you can hear a lot of unflattering reviews. Type unreliable they are expensive and all that. But in fact, many French car suspension is stronger than the Japanese or German. The myth of insecurity is often thought up by mechanics, because there are non-standard suspensions that you need to tinker with when repairing.
And what I like about French suspensions is their comfort and handling. Considering all this, I cannot say that the French are significantly worse than other brands of cars. In addition, it all depends more on the model, like other manufacturers, and does not apply to the entire French car industry as a whole.
Chipping engines
The reputation of the French engines for the EP6 series Prince series, the one that was developed jointly with BMW engineers, was put on the Peugeot 308 and everything else that was produced after 2008, tarnished. This engine is really unfortunate - it is worth recognizing But there are no complaints about the rest of the engines. As far as diesel engines are concerned, the French are recognized masters of heavy fuel engines.
